Evening Smoke, a
Kwiki Grape Cigar. That makes it an official "smoke" post, albeit a stogie. Now it gets UGLY, as I promised. About a week ago I said I'd come up with a group of ugly pipes for display, and that I'd already pushed the button on the first. Well, it arrived today, direct from Poland. I thought it'd be Ogopogo Cute, like some of the posts that PaulRVA had given us, a bit of distortion there to add to the effect.
Well, I'm afraid this one is uhhhh . . . . a little worse than I thought. Full story below the first picture, in
Skippable Drivel. Here's the new pipe:
Skippable Drivel:
Late afternoon, Mike popped over for a quick pipe and to see the new family member. First thing he said was "is that a pipe or a duck call?" Here's another shot:
And some supporting evidence for his statement:
And one more, from another view:
Yup, it's a Mr. Brog, a No. 52 Scoot. Bigger than it looks, six inches long. Pearwood, red finish. Superbly made. Cost me $23 bucks US plus shipping. I had to hurry to get these photos done because my battery on my Pentax Ks-2 was failing. Had no interest in continuing after a recharge - wanted to put the "collecting more uglies" idea right out of my head.
However, I'll use this pipe for sure - once pearwood is broken in (which like ash - has to be done carefully), it smokes beautifully which I'm sure this one will too. And it'll show up in future posts, stuffed with Englishes, Maytee. And likely a useful travel pipe for a longer afternoon smoke.
But I think the Ugly Collection stops here, eh? A bit exhausted, so I'm gonna crash and see what tomorrow brings. I'll show up sometime.
