Now smoking year 2014 Esoterica Tilbury in a straight smooth Danish gold straight grain undated W.O. Larsen Hand Made in Denmark dublin with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Watching the Orioles-Rays game. Tomato the Brave wanted in to eat. He played with the cat nip sock, batted a cat nip ball around the den, and then grabbed my left leg and bunny kicked me. Then, he jumped on my lap, got some head scratching, and wanted to go back out after that. That boy puts the hyper in hyper activity.

Now I'm trying out some C&D Epiphany in a Marxman Billiard. I saw @Briar Lee talking up their virtues as a pipe so I snagged one on eBay a while back to see what the hubbub was about. Pretty good smoker so far though the stinger that was in it restricted the draw more than I like but that's nothing that a little elbow grease and some pliers won't fix.

Evening Smoke, a Kwiki Grape Cigar. That makes it an official "smoke" post, albeit a stogie. Now it gets UGLY, as I promised. About a week ago I said I'd come up with a group of ugly pipes for display, and that I'd already pushed the button on the first. Well, it arrived today, direct from Poland. I thought it'd be Ogopogo Cute, like some of the posts that PaulRVA had given us, a bit of distortion there to add to the effect.

Well, I'm afraid this one is uhhhh . . . . a little worse than I thought. Full story below the first picture, in Skippable Drivel. Here's the new pipe:

Skippable Drivel:

Late afternoon, Mike popped over for a quick pipe and to see the new family member. First thing he said was "is that a pipe or a duck call?" Here's another shot:

And some supporting evidence for his statement:

And one more, from another view:

Yup, it's a Mr. Brog, a No. 52 Scoot. Bigger than it looks, six inches long. Pearwood, red finish. Superbly made. Cost me $23 bucks US plus shipping. I had to hurry to get these photos done because my battery on my Pentax Ks-2 was failing. Had no interest in continuing after a recharge - wanted to put the "collecting more uglies" idea right out of my head.

However, I'll use this pipe for sure - once pearwood is broken in (which like ash - has to be done carefully), it smokes beautifully which I'm sure this one will too. And it'll show up in future posts, stuffed with Englishes, Maytee. And likely a useful travel pipe for a longer afternoon smoke.

But I think the Ugly Collection stops here, eh? A bit exhausted, so I'm gonna crash and see what tomorrow brings. I'll show up sometime.

The highlight for me of last night's Pipe Club Meeting ... 3(+) hours of great conversation ... was opening the door to a new "thing", Cigar Leaf from Robt McConnell's Pure Caribe. I received a generous sample (Thanks, BenMN) & have been reading up today on lots of info about Cigar Leaf. Favorable comments were that it's good smoked by itself, but it also has great merits as a blender. I'll be digging into all of this further over next couple weeks.
Fun to have a new chapter (!!!).

Now smoking year 2023 H&H Viprati in a 2000s brown quarter bend sandblast Pierluigi 140 brandy military mount with a silver cap and a caramel acrylic saddle stem. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is in the bedroom. Harry the Hairy finally moved off the couch to eat. Now, he's got his arms around m'lady's neck while she holds him. I went outside to see who was around, and saw Abner the Eager snoozin' on top of the cat tree. I brought him in to eat, and Tomato the Brave came in, too. Didn't see Daisy the Feral Princess. She hasn't eaten much today.

A couple of minutes away from smoking Wilke No. 515 in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This was the original 515 that Basil Rathbone smoked, and the model that he smoked it in.
