Briar, just to make sure I understand, are you using the acetone to clean the wood also or just the stems? We might as well just all admit women are better at making things look good than us hairy legged boys.
This morning I’m kicking myself for fifty years of trying to make a pipe look good, when all I had to do was buy some cotton balls and 100% acetone at Dollar General, and imitate my wife doing her fingernails.
Look at this formerly brown turd of a Marxman 400 attempt, I’m smoking with Danish SWR.

You want 100% Acetone at Dollar General.

It eats up tars and oils and grime and stem oxidation, right now!
Apply Obsidian Oil if you have it, mineral oil if you’re a tightwad, or olive oil or grapeseed oil or coconut oil, and polish with a cloth, they all work.
Be careful with acetone.
But you know that, you know?
OMG!!! Paul...... My mouth is watering!HU Makhuwa in a Merchant Service Stack Billiard. Diet Coke on the side.
I’ve been on KP Detail all day but finished making Crab Cakes, Deviled Crabs. Deviled Eggs, Potato Salad , Crab Imperial Stuffing and Hush Puppies to get a head start for tomorrow for my FIL.
The majority the cooking is done so I won’t have to scramble as much tomorrow except to stuff the Rockfish for Chesapeake Bay Imperial. The dishwasher is slam fullView attachment 398833
