Enjoyed a little low calorie snacking, and am smoking Wilke No. 78 in a straight black sandblasted undated, unbranded Made in France short shank billiard with a long black vulcanite tapered stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Finishing this morning's Dark Holler with some Irish decaf. Half way into the pipe this morning could see the crane was starting to move...so out to the site I went. Ended up taking all day and they finally 'flew' the sunk tug about 4pm. Successful salvage: 80 ft tug, stayed in one piece, 300 tons of steel hull. Crane is the largest barge crane on the west coast, can lift 1,000 tons and has a reach of 150ft. Barge they put it on is 100ft wide 600ft long.

Nice pictures there of the salvage! how do you dispose old ships in the US? special yard/permits etc? usual cutting work and resale the old iron?

Going to a salvage yard in Anacortes, WA (*hour boat ride away) where the state takes 'possession' and will be cut up for scrap...

Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a black rusticated medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY 4AB No. 67/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Reading baseball box scores.

Trying to smoke some Makhuwa plus latakia if I can find a lighter that isnt empty! Its in a Ser Jacopo full bent. Im glad I dug this pipe out. Its comfortable.

Last smoke of the day is year 2016 D&R Two Timer Gold in a smooth straight late 1970s Charatan Special 4148DC Reg. No. 203573 pot with a black double comfort vulcanite stem. I'll probably smoke the entire bowl about the time it takes me to feed my cats and the ferals. Sam the Scamp is still adjusting to Long Tail being gone. So am I.
