Half way through this bowl of 2021 Watch City Simply Orange Virginia in a black sandblast medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY 4AB No. 182/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem.

The black cat has become very friendly very quickly. He even wants to go in the house, which we won't allow. Suzy and Molly would freak out. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave were not amused to see me playing with this cat, but they'll have to get used to it. I was surprised to see it in the day time, but he got a ton of food and was very appreciative. I like him a lot.

I'm enjoying a lovely bowl of C&D Three Friars. This blend has been cellared for a little over two years. For those of you who haven't tried this, it is va's, burley and a dose of perique. Excellent with coffee. I'm smoking it in a partially rusticated straight bulldog with a vulcanite stem made by Al Baier. He was a talented sculptor and pipe maker in Vermont who was known for his figural pipes. I visited him in the early 90's and purchased this pipe from his "seconds", which was all I could afford at the time.
Have a rewarding weekend my friends!

Probably going to smoke through the rest of this pure Virginia. 2 or 3 years of age, just perfect and simple.

I smoked some Westminster (my favorite medium English) and seem to have lost my taste for Latakia. Started puffing on the Virginia, and even more amazing flavors came out. Kind of fun.

I don’t know if it’s just the season, but the simpler blend the better right now.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am passing the quarter mark n this bowl of Watch City Blue Ridge Special in a straight smooth ebony post-WW2 LHS Sterncrest 91 bulldog with a sterling silver band, a diamond shank and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Off to work now.

Did some snacking, fed Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave, and am going back to work with a bowl of Wilke Surbrug’s Golden Sceptre in a late 40s, early 50s straight black sandblasted Wagner British Thorn 495 (Comoy’s second) pot with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Listening to the super excellent BBC Sherlock Holmes series starring Clive Merrison and Michael Williams. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Tomato the Brave is one of the best names for anything I’ve seen be it creature, friend, heck even a pipe could go by that moniker. I’ll have to keep an eye out for him/her in a future picture. I’m assuming it’s a cat.

New toy arrived, Savinelli's Punto Oro army mount 1002.
The first pipe I had in 2008 was a Savinelli Roma Lucite(something like that), and I also took Danish Black Vanilla and Sunday's Fantasy from the pipe shop. This terrible combination almost made me give up smoking pipes too early. Fortunately, a friend gave me a can of Morton Frogs and a can of Orlik Golden Sliced as gifts, reversed my misconception that pipe tobacco is a kind of sweet and greasy artificial spice.
15 years later, I once again get a Savinelli, a product from 1958 to 1969 that was comparable to dunhill from the same era. Now I began to understand why our friend @TheIronMonkey Jeff had such a passion for Savinelli.
Will smoke a bowl of 965 in it later.DSCF0631.jpg
