As June winds down, I have expanded my pipe tobacco adventure into Virginias; namely, MB Virginia Flake and GLP Union Square. The Virginia Flake had two years age when I popped the tin and the Union Square had three months of age.
First impressions: Virginia Flake is sweet with a fruitlike confection quality to it. Given the youth of the tobacco, the first bowl of Union Square was remarkably easy to smoke - some bread notes with just a touch of dark fruit jam . . . Was surprised how much I like this one.
A couple of aromatics have seen more bowl time this month: Peretti's Black Virginia and GLP's The Virginia Cream. Black Virginia is fairly mild and I get a bit of coffee on the palette. The Virginia Cream has some DFK and perique - Totally different from Black Virginia but both have a place in my tobacco stock.
