Did a short walk session in this brutal heat and humidity, and am not far from finishing this bowl of D&R Ryback in a smooth straight late 1970s Charatan Special 4148DC Reg. No. 203573 pot with a black double comfort vulcanite stem. More ice water and bergs is helping me out.

About a quarter of a bowl left of year 2016 Orlik Golden Sliced in a smooth brown medium bend Abbott 788 (Sasieni family era) author with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Getting ready to watch the Braves-Mets game. I want to see Ohtani pitch against the Yankees, so I'm recording that game to watch later.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of Ken Byron Ventures Yoshimi’s Scented Plug in an undated dark brown straight Larus & Brother Co. Signature billiard with a nickel band and a black vulcanite tapered stem with the initials LCR on the top of the stem.

Late 19th century LHE (unidentified) with clay churchwarden style bowl and inset mesh 'barrier' to prevent moisture from the smoker reaching the tobacco as well as providing a small space below to cool the smoke:-

Briar was also used for the same purpose ...

An alternative method was the removable bowl leaving space underneath to form what is known in Falcon parlance as a 'humidome' or reservoir designed to trap moisture and cool the smoke:-
