Afternoon everyone, as some of you will know, I like the odd pipe designs that didn’t really make a big hit with the pipe smokers of the past. This one that came today is no exception.
The Dr Grabow CDL (cool, dry light) pipe was brought by a Sparta pipe exec in ‘74 and sat on his desk until it was put into limited production. Only a few hundred were produced and test marketed in a few cities in the US between ‘75-‘83. It wasn’t popular and was subsequently dropped as a concept.
It takes a 6mm filter and has a air flow regulator in the front of the bowl at the base. I don’t have a proper filter so I’m gonna use a bit of pipe cleaner. First bowl will be Savinelli Jupiter. image.jpgimage.jpg

Good morning all. I'm starting my smoking day with some Eight State Burley in a cob. I'm interested to hear from those of you that have tried this blend. How are you liking it (or not)? So far I've had smokes where I'm glad I bought the amount I did, or I should have bought more, and even, who will buy the tins I have left.

Bullseye in Peterson System Spigot 302. GEC302. I think I'm understanding why Bullseye is popular. Now getting dark fruit. But! Towards the end of the bowl, more like bottom 1/3, getting some tropical fruit.

I just tried the PS-LBF the other day and it was a really good smoke. I let it dry for a good 4 hours and it smoked with very few relights. I still prefer Bayou Morning as my go to VaPer but maybe that will change once I smoke more Bullseye.

The cob has given me the best Eight State Burley experience so far.

Early afternoon Manhattan... you are livin' the life!
My retirement aspiration when people asked me was that they could find me on Tuesday mornings at Peabody’s drinking a Bloody Mary, reading the Desert Sun, and chit chatting with the old men of Pal Sprinqs. Sadly, covid killed Peabodys. So now, you have to go a little further down the street to Hair of the Dog where drinks in the morning are still under $5.00 and one can still smoke on the patio.
