I've been playing around with about 6.5 lbs. of blending tobaccos from smokingpipes/C&D/McClelland for about 2 or 3 weeks. I've got VaFlake, Dark Burley, Cavendish cut burley, Izmir, C&D latakia, Mc's Latakia and Mc's Perique.
That's it. I experiment with the ratios. It wasn't until I got the perique and the Mc's Lat that my blends really began to taste 'professional'. (The latakias are similar but different, but it's the perique that is essential.)
I've got my Ropp cherry wood deluxe burning my latest concoction. These mixes always benefit from a little resting time. I figured my costs of equivalent 2 oz. tins to be under $4.00 a tin.
I'll look to add a few more good quality blending tobaccos just to add to the possibilities, but I must say that I'm really happy with my results and the learning process involved.
