Fribourg & Treyer Special Brown Flake in a Savinelli 707
I hope you have AC soon, that is no fun at all.Tried to smoke a little trout stream in a cob, but it's just too hot to enjoy smoking. 94F here, and my AC broke down. Fans don't cut it. Hoping to be able to get a new AC reasonably soon. Cost is prohibitive. Will not be on the forum much. Not smoking right now.
No, no fun at all. Especially when you live in a metal siding singlewide. Ugh. Sitting out in the yard in the shade is at least tolerable. The house is an oven. Oh well, at least I'm not in a flood zone. Got nothing to complain about. Offering prayers for the folks in Texas, and now also in southern New Mexico.I hope you have AC soon, that is no fun at all.

Have been spending a pleasant afternoon, temps low 80's. Great lunch = pan fried a pork chop with cut up parsnips in a mild spice mix. Parsnips sort of a "little know" veggie but very tasty with excellent nutrition. Drinking lemon water, but from a suggestion from one of my Forum Brothers Sisters here, my biggest refreshment this Summer has been vinegar water, chilled.Found grapefruit & unopened bottle of Buxton water. Got a B&Q card to hand in & found 3 parsnips at the market yesterday. A great haul!
Interesting to read your comments on McClelland 2000. I have an unopened jar from 2012 where I added some 2000 right on top of an equal amount of 5115 with no piece of paper nor plastic separating them. I figured whenever I eventually opened the jar, I'd be getting pinches of 2000 until about mid-jar, then I'd be getting pinches of the mixture until I reached the bottom half where I'd be getting pure 5115. Some might ask "Why bastardize the two?" But they're both classic McClelland, both now gone forever, so I'll SAVOR every pinch. And I'm getting close to opening the jar to see what 13 years of age has done. Putting up some McClelland was (in hindsight) a great decision.McClelland 2000 in this Bullfrog Eskimo Gumnut -
Seeing all this misguided dialogue around aromatics recently really got me craving a good bowl. McC 2000 is a well-aged virginia broken flake topped (cased?) with a subtle caramel/nougat flavor. It might be because of the mason jar aging but smoking it now you can hardly tell it's an aromatic if you weren't informed, there's definitely a faint caramel sweetness to the blend but it works complimentary with the aged virginias as opposed to modern aromatics that often use an aggressively sweet topping to cover some lesser quality leaves.
True,I smoke it as a change of pace from my usual Burley and Virginia Flakes.Guy on here actually sent me some dark birds eye. Good stuff.
Man , I like that pipe . Wish I could find one at a reasonable price .Now smoking Wilke No. 515 in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This was the original 515 that Basil Rathbone smoked, and the model that he smoked it in. Ken Byron is in town and just came over for a visit. He obviously needs blending tips!
