Would have had a ton of birds eye!

Yes, 360° around the bowl.

Super cool

Is this then a tiny, whole burl that has been "cored" for the chamber? With root as stem?

Pretty much, except I believe the shank would actually be the start of the tree trunk that would be reaching for the sun.

Dang that is COOL. It looks like something a mythical character would smoke.

Now I have something to aspire to.

Did a set of walking reps in the cold and wind, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. Lunch follows this smoke.

Part of the Furniture Now
I'm having some fantastic smokes lately . . . kind of all coming together. Last evening was the best smoke I've had with my meer, biased for Orientals. Loaded it with Steamworks, one of the best of the bunch, and had a truly wonderful smoke. The pipe is coming along now, and like a fine stereo system, is clinical and accurate in rendering the nuances. With orientals, this is a must.

Additional comment to note here: I've had a lot of trouble with tongue bite. Well, no more. I checked out some old posts on the subject, and on this post the Cap suggested Biotin. Bought some Biotin Gummies, chew three or four a day, and presto, no tongue bite.

However, I've really more of a problem with lips than tongue. If others have the same trouble, try coarse grey unrefined Celtic sea salt. Put a half dozen or ten grains in your mouth, swish them around a minute or two, and in a couple of days your lips will be better. I've installed lip guards as well, and with these hacks I'm pretty much back on the ground I want to be. I've always had sensitive skin, and unfortunately it has manifest noticeably in my senior years. These hacks and moderation (hahahahaha) are apparently the key.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am smoking year 2000 VaPer Three Nuns in a 1938 straight black grain relief Dunhill OX Shell bulldog with a silver band repair with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Gold Star Peruvian Macchu Picchu, neat, is my drink. Getting ready to clean a few pipes. Sleepy Suzy is by my side supervising the event.
