I was able to slip out of bed this morning (mostly) unnoticed by the wife or baby. I love being up before the sun rises. On this morning's menu I decided to give Baker Street a try from the Country Squire in my Guildhall by Comoy, with a nice side of black coffee.

Hope you all have a great Saturday.

Unlike you, I never want to drag my butt out of bed before noon. Usually go to bed about 2:30 am. Still keep musicians' hours.

Wonder what the Church Fathers would think of the current crop of heresies and heretics. . . . love that pipe btw

Same, I reckon. The old ones have a way of resurfacing periodically after a few centuries, I find. Humans have probably been speculating about Life, The Universe, And Everything for as long as they had time to think, and I don't imagine any notion nowadays hasn't already been thunk a few times in centuries past.

The pipe, BTW, is also Mrs. Badger's favourite in my rotation - until I light it, that is...

Finally got all the garlic and elephant garlic planted - they say you should never work the soil while it sticks to your boots, but needs must. A few days without sleet, hail, rain or snow would be a fine thing. At least the ground is warming up. Contemplating my labours with some Old Dark Flake, topped with some Peter Heinrich's Dark Strong, in the bent Elliott pearwood.Smoke180125b.jpgSmoke180125a.jpg

Fortunately, I don't need to plant anything now . . . my yard has a similar appearance to yours, except despite the warm winter so far, it's still covered with about 2 feet of cloudsnot.

I have, however, pitched about 35 - 40 cloves of garlic onto the snow. It'll sink down with the snow in spring, and come up with the dandilions when the ground clears, and I'll gather both as well as other edible weeds I enjoy. Mowing?
🤣😁😂cray

Initially my neighbours reacted, but now they all tell me that my yard is the jewel of the neighbourhood. A delightful piece of homestead that they really enjoy. They're either very good liars or telling the truth, cuz nobody has offered to mow my lawn. I suspect they really are telling the truth, because to my eyes, too,, it's right out of a kids' picture book. Dave next door mows a walkway around the yard with his rider, cuz a few people like to participate. :) Especially to walk their dogs, which I encourage, believe it or not. Fertilizer for the almost 1/2 acre.

Haha, it's true what they say, different strokes. I noticed if I sleep in until 7:00 am I'll miss my widow of opportunity to have a morning smoke. Once the kids and wife are up forget about it. We're cooking breakfast and getting the day started.
