Finally got all the garlic and elephant garlic planted - they say you should never work the soil while it sticks to your boots, but needs must. A few days without sleet, hail, rain or snow would be a fine thing. At least the ground is warming up. Contemplating my labours with some Old Dark Flake, topped with some Peter Heinrich's Dark Strong, in the bent Elliott pearwood.

Fortunately, I don't need to plant anything now . . . my yard has a similar appearance to yours, except despite the warm winter so far, it's still covered with about 2 feet of cloudsnot.
I have, however, pitched about 35 - 40 cloves of garlic onto the snow. It'll sink down with the snow in spring, and come up with the dandilions when the ground clears, and I'll gather both as well as other edible weeds I enjoy. Mowing?

Initially my neighbours reacted, but now they all tell me that my yard is the jewel of the neighbourhood. A delightful piece of homestead that they really enjoy. They're either very good liars or telling the truth, cuz nobody has offered to mow my lawn. I suspect they really are telling the truth, because to my eyes, too,, it's right out of a kids' picture book. Dave next door mows a walkway around the yard with his rider, cuz a few people like to participate.

Especially to walk their dogs, which I encourage, believe it or not. Fertilizer for the almost 1/2 acre.
