A third of the way through this bowl of Wilke No. 72 in a pre-1974 dark brown straight Larus & Brother Co. Signature billiard with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem with the initials LCR on the top of the stem. This blend was smoked by Walter Cronkite. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

A little piece of pipe trivia for everyone…

Legend has it that waaay back in the 1930s, JRR Tolkein was given his first bowl of year 2000 McClelland Chrismas Cheer in a Dunghill by his good friend, Albert Einstein. JRR said, “What is this shit? Heinz ketchup?” and he dumped the bowl right after lighting it up. From that day forth, the only tobacco Tolkien smoked was a blend called Winchester from a little company called Cornell & Diehl. That’s exactly what I’m smoking today, out of a Tekin meerschaum pipe. I know what you mean. Once every blue moon, I get a Jiminks smoke, and I have no idea whether it's because of perfect atmospheric conditions, a slight bias of one leaf over another in that particular bowlful of a given blend, one's mood, or what else. It is the Lost Chord, Le Rayon Vert and Dame Vera Lynn singing 'A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square'. Precious moments, and I never know when I'm going to get one :)
Exactly, it seems like sometimes, the starts do aling!😁

Had a light snack while I made sure all the cats are, and have passed the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. I'll decide on whether or not I'll end the day with this smoke when I finish this one. Going to have some quiet reading time.

If you knew when you'd get one you wouldn't enjoy it half as much, I find
