Going to have Wilke Peanut Butter and Chocolate in a Missouri Meerschaum MacArthur 5-Star Natural Corn Cob.
Have you tried packing in coffee grounds per Steve at LJP? I prefer it to the salt/everclear.
Have a third of a bowl left of Wilke Shenandoah in an undated straight smooth brown pre-Republic Peterson’s Sterling bulldog 150 with a sterling silver band and a black vulcanite saddle p-lip stem. This blend has much less perique (10%) than the regular Back Bay (which was my idea that John Brandt blended). This version was my idea, too, as I wanted a lighter VaPer for this pipe. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
I haven't tried that because I'm not certain that the coffee won't flavor the bowl. I tried activated charcoal three times with no luck, too.
Down to just 1/3 of the tin left...
Just finished smoking Wilke High Hat in an undated black sandblasted straight made in France Silvermatch Canadian with a tapered black vulcanite stem.
Now smoking Wilke Royal Admiral in an undated, unbranded, slight bend smooth darker brown made in France Los Alton VBF zulu with a tapered black vulcanite stem.
Morning smoke of Amphora Burley Blend in a Dunhill Bruyere F/T group( 3 )model 111 medium billiard from 73
Finished work for the day, fed Sleepy Suzy and Molly Danger, and am near the last quarter of this bowl of Wilke Edwin’s Burley in a post-WW2 straight smooth brown pre-Republic Peterson’s Dublin 3 Shamrock bulldog with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. This blend is Wall Street with much less perique (10%) than the regular W.S. (which was my idea that John Brandt blended). This version was my idea, too, as I wanted a lighter BurPer for this pipe.
A third of a bowl left of C&D Virginia Flake in straight medium brown 1922-1937 Irish Free State era Peterson 222 bullcap with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. I'll end the day with this smoke.
Just opened a tin of my Own Blend No. 111 - in my opinion the best flake in the world

Good morning everyone, started with University Flake in the 1911 Masta bulldog with orific bit and moved on to MacB London burley in this old workhorse (no pun intended) Longchamp which is great with burley blends and one of the first Longchamp pipes I brought. 
I've had reasonable success with this method. You may need multiple treatments with the coffee ground however. It is a very passive way to remove a ghost in my opinion. I've also stuffed the shank with them on more than one occasion. After cleaning out with a pipe cleaner, I have done a quick hot water rinse. The coffee taste hasn't hung around for me after the rinse.
