Have you tried packing in coffee grounds per Steve at LJP? I prefer it to the salt/everclear.Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of Sutliff States of Virginia Limited Edition ’23 in a smooth, fumed top three quarter bend 1970s Peterson military mount meer with a nickel cap and a black vulcanite saddle stem. Despite a dozen salt and Everclear treatments, sanding out the carbon and tons of elbow grease, the Lakeland ghost is still present. Dunno what else to do since I don't smoke Lakelands these days.
I haven't tried that because I'm not certain that the coffee won't flavor the bowl. I tried activated charcoal three times with no luck, too.Have you tried packing in coffee grounds per Steve at LJP? I prefer it to the salt/everclear.

I've had reasonable success with this method. You may need multiple treatments with the coffee ground however. It is a very passive way to remove a ghost in my opinion. I've also stuffed the shank with them on more than one occasion. After cleaning out with a pipe cleaner, I have done a quick hot water rinse. The coffee taste hasn't hung around for me after the rinse.I haven't tried that because I'm not certain that the coffee won't flavor the bowl. I tried activated charcoal three times with no luck, too.
