In a little bit will recline and read The Valley Of Fear. As @dino knows well the ADP pipe in one of the Holmes tales was an Adolph Posener. This little ADP was unsmoked, hallmarked Chester 1914 and is now getting a gentle break in with some 2019 Capstan Gold. It is amazing how compact a lot of the pipes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are and this pipe smokes wonderfully. Only a hair bigger than the little Peterson short 230. Just right for me.
That's a great looking pipe, HawkeyeLinus!
The reason many turn-of-the-century pipes were small is because tobacco was often rather expensive for the average smoker in England.
Enjoy your Adolph David Posener pipe!
Almost finished smoking year 2015 John Aylesbury Sir John’s Flake Virginia in a straight smooth light brown 2020 Ryan Alden Ace of Spades squat bulldog with a spalted pecan top and ferrule that’s on the tapered black acrylic stem.
A minute or two away from smoking year 2014 Astley’s No. 109 Medium Flake in a straight black 1963 Dunhill LB Shell 4S billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem.
Decided to work through the Virginia Flakes for a few days.
PS LTF in the bent Armellini hand made with a nice hand carved plateau.
A cup of Pu’erh tea accompanying.
Hu Directors Cut in a Stanwell Relief Pipe with a 9mm filter. Been in a jar since July 2020. Has definitely improved with age. I don’t find the DFK overpowering.
I made homemade pasta tonight with my homemade sourdough bread and now I’m kicking back with some Cowboy Coffee with my unfinished Sav and a glass of bourbon.
