Have you contemplated the reason for the “balled spot”?
Do you hold the pipe in your palm when smoking. Is there more material or mass on the forward heel of the bowl?
How is the color on the rest of the bowl?
I do enjoying seeing the many wonderful Meerschaum pipes and there transformations.
I just figured they made it to color that way to match the back of my head.
I hold it by the shank when smoking.
The rest of the pipe is coloring pretty evenly, the shank is definitely darker. I guess time is the artist and time will tell.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple and am smoking Wilke No. 72 in a pre-1974 dark brown straight Larus & Brother Co. Signature billiard with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem with the initials LCR on the top of the stem. This blend was smoked by Walter Cronkite.

Work's done for the day, fed Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave, and loaded the dishwasher. I'm smoking Wilke No. 515 Double Shot in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This is No. 515 with twice the rum. I may end the day with this smoke.
