When I originally posted a pic of this pipe in the Barling thread in December, I thought it was unsmoked. I was reluctant to smoke it as such; I liked the idea of it surviving unsmoked for so long, which made it more interesting. Smoking it would just make it a used low budget Barling. But, after a brief exchange with sablebrush52, I took a closer look and found some tiny remnants of tobacco ribbon adhered to the wall at the bottom of the chamber. So, I've revised my thoughts and think this has been smoked, so I may as well smoke it. It's a transition period Barling, circa 1962, possibly from a Seconds line. The logo is the script "Barling" with no apostrophe, no "s." There are no model number stamps, just the company name and "LONDON ENGLAND." The logo seems oddly close to the end of the shank (going off actually), so I wonder if it was shortened, or if the logo placement is what made it a second. The BB&S appears on the stem (sablebrush52 thought that unusual). I wonder if this is right in the middle of the transition period where things are still in flux. In any case, I'm having SG FVF in this diminutive Barling Bent Billiard.

Close to finishing this bowl of Angler's Dream in a 2018 natural smooth medium bend Peterson 03 apple silver spigot military mount with a tapered black acrylic fish tail stem. Fed two ferals, and put up a wind blocker where Big Stripesy snoozes to help keep him warmer.
