Did a little snacking, fed two ferals, and my cats, and am a quarter of the way through my last smoke of the day: Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 2019 black rusticated Peterson 312 full bend billiard with a military mount and a nickel cap with a cumberland 4AB stem and a N.A.P. bit. Reading while this bowl lasts.

Good morning all. I’m smoking KBV Burley Morning Pipe in a cob. Coffee with bourbon cream on the side. It’s 60f degrees and pouring rain at the moment, as a front pushes through, bringing an end to the springlike temperatures we’ve experienced for the past week.
That's one of my favorite blends. I might not have tried it if one of the members hadn't sent some with a pipe I purchased from them. Now I'm hooked.

Just had a look at the Jamestown clays I ordered from Smokingpipes.com; they have a small bowl like the English Civil War pipes due to the high cost of tobacco in those days.

Talking about small bowls ...
check out the size of bowls of the "little ladell" or "belly pipes" pipes of 1560-1600 compared to a typical English Civil War (1642-1651) bowl
separated by not much more than fifty years

According to William Harrison (1573)
"In these daies the taking-in of the smoke of the Indian herbe called 'Tobaco' by an instrument formed like a little ladell, whereby it passeth from the mouth into the head and stomach, is gretlie taken-up and used in England"

Today’s misty, murky adventure with the dogs was accompanied by a bowl of Fraser’s mixture in a “basket” briar!
We wandered a long way today, frequently in the low cloud, but it’s always great to be out 1FBDE605-D883-440B-8076-CA24CE490783.jpeg8F6A6B2E-44B1-49C3-B9A7-7AECECBD13B7.jpeg
