Granger in a cob. So far I taste essence of cheap jelly and crayons . The burleys are weak. I wanted to like this stuff since so many members swear by it. My go to burley has become Sutliff Edgeworth match. Granger just doesn't do it for me. I've smoked it moist and dry and I find it boring. What gives?

About a quarter of a bowl left of year 2014 HU Directors Cut in a smooth straight Lane era Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. Have enough for one more bowl. I'm trying to decide on what to smoke in this pipe after I smoke that last bowl.

If you try to write the word for those waxy things that we used to color with you get crayons. Freaking weird!!

Early-mid 20th cent. unknown maker with base metal ferrule and horn stem / bowl and shank carved in deep relief with leaves and flowers

When I bought this tobacco in the 1970s the tin art was (unsurprisingly) very different:-

GH&Co. Dark Bird’s Eye in a Sasieni Patent Eight Dot Marlborough. This stuff is fantastic. The shag cut is a bit odd, and it packs a punch, but boy is it tasty

It has become an almost everyday evening smoke. I love the easy prep of the shag cut, and this is effectively the best Vitamin N for me

Doesn’t that translate to Horse shit?
Always sounds better in a foreign language, don't you think?

Anyway, remember this 'work of art' (90 cans courtesy Piero Manzoni 1961)?

BTW the highest price paid for one of these cans - in August 2016 - was €275,000, including auction fees.

Everything I’ve read says CM registered hallmarks at London, Chester and Sheffield but mine and most others I’ve seen (mainly on eBay) have the Birmingham anchor. Mine is a ‘09. Great movie by the way, Terry Thomas was an incredibly generous chap, not at all the cad he portrayed in the movies.
I've only got one CM with a silver band and that's London 1901 but interesting to hear about the Birmingham connection.
Terry-Thomas always added something extra special to everything he was in and what a particular delight he was in HOW TO MURDER YOUR WIFE playing Jack Lemmon's butler.
