Just fired up a bowl of 10 year old Mississippi River. It's good stuff, but honestly I think I like the newer vintage a little better!
I've not had 10 year aged Miss R. Do you think it is because the Lat has mellowed, or do you suspect a change in recipe? Your aged stuff may have been blended directly by Joe Lankford as opposed to blended elsewhere.

It was not listed as a topping but present in the flavoring description , i can taste the apple and rum too but no honey . Is there another Solani blend that i must try in your opinion ? I really enjoyed those 2 .
Under normal circumstances, I would suggest the 660 Silver Flake, but a friend got a recent tin, and said it didn't seem the same to him. As he's smoked a lot of it, he ought to know. He thought there was less Kentucky (not dark fired) in it. Either his taster is off or it was changed.

I better get crackin! Yesterday I smoked WCC Old Dominion in my 1967 Dunhill Duke

Then I smoked WCC Flake #558 in my Tom Eltang Poker with Ring Blast finish. Surprisingly, I don’t have a picture of that pipe on my phone. I’ll have to remedy that.

Now smoking Amphora Virginia in a cob. Good night, fellas.

Unlike what appears to be almost standardised Calabash sizes in the modern era (1980s - present) judging from my few examples there was a time when all tastes were catered for back in the early 20th cent. - from the dainty to the chunky and all sizes in between

Calabash stamped W.H (William Harrison - pipe mounter) on the bowl mount and band with marks for Birmingham 1909
