Jim said, "1975 medium bend sandblasted looking, smooth on the sides yellow Pioneer meer with a black ferrule and vulcanite stem in the military mount style. Amazing how a $5.95 pressed meer I bought new can out smoke many higher grade meers."

Yeah, a long time ago, in an online chat, Fred Bass claimed that Pioneer made the best pressed meerschaum bowls; so good, they took on nice coloring (in their own distinctive way). He went on to say that some folks mistake them for block meerschaum, but Pioneer was not known for using block for any of their pipes.

I have to say, I was quite wrong. This morning I gave the #20 another try. It made for a great morning smoke, and it pairs extremely well with coffee. I mixed a small pinch of of my virginia in with it. I can tell it is an acquired taste, but I see myself growing to enjoy it quite a bit. Ut doesnt burn nearly as hit as what I'm used to, which is quite nice. It makes for a very smooth smoke with a bold flavor. I may just be falling in love!
Glad you're warming up to it! Coffee is key for many, they just pair so well. I like red wine with it at night. Maybe it's the acidity?
