Is this a judgment free zone? Autumn Evening in my first pipe - one of those Amazon things that’s probably radioactive.

I've bought a couple of pipes from Amazon, and one of them, a straight, basic Muxiang I paid $20 bucks for and I've dubbed "Uncle Henry" after Dennis the Menace's pipe smoking neighbour, is one of the best smoking pipes I have. Always take it travelling. I did have the same or very similar pipe that you're smoking above. Gave it away. Not because I didn't like it but because in general, I don't like the bent style as much as a straight or a longstem. Also, a lot of Amazoon pipes are made of pearwood, which is good enough but burns very hot until a real cake is built up.

Conversely, a couple of the most expensive pipes I own (which is not really expensive; relativity of the pension, I'm afraid, are not stellar smokers. And I'm sure that all the folks reading this have an el cheapo or two that smokes just great, as well.

Enjoy! Looks good!

I woke up with a little extra time this morning so I decided to prepare some Brown Irish X and have another go. This time, I packed a smaller bowl and really took my time sipping on it in my trusty Pete. I paired my smoke with a delightfully black coffee as is customary and thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday✌️

That's a great little pipe - small bowl but very strong, masculine appearance. Love it!

Had a good walk in the nearby woods with my dog, Firefly. We heard, but never saw, a pack of coyotes yipping at each other, including small, obviously puppy yips. Sounded cute. Firefly was fascinated. He stared hard in their direction, but made no move to leave my side. His butt bristles stood up. He knows when he is outclassed.
Had a bowl of Anglers Dream in a cob. Very pleasant day so far. 20240315_101238.jpg

Did a set of walking reps, and smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. Abner the Eager came running to me when I started. I scooped him up, brought him inside to eat, and went walking.

After my last post, Tomato the Brave jumped on my chair, and snuggled for a while.

Good day all! Been on a steady diet of 1792 Flake for several days. Started today with the same. Now working on a bowl of KBV Van Gogh in an Upshall sandblast Canadian size 4 to be likewise followed with KBV Matured Fragrant Virginia in an attempt to break the slavish chains of tonquin.

I'm out lunting about with a pretty girl and Falcon Extra full of Daughters & Ryan Ryback this afternoon. puffy

All jokes aside (though I'd still contest that she is a pretty girl, as far as dogs go) I've been really captivated by shag cut blends lately for how quick and easy they are to pack, light, and keep lit when you're out walking and I remembered that I had a big half gallon jar full of Ryback from somewhere around 2019 or 2020 when I was using it for RYO purposes.

I had never tried it in a pipe before so I decided to give it a smoke, and as far as dark fired blends go Ryback is a really spicy one! It's got a lot of punchy dark fired Kentucky flavor and a pretty substantial nicotine content, though oh boy was it ever kick-you-in-the-throat harsh! I'm not sure if that's how it always is or if it's just because my Ryback is a little drier than optimal (I stored it with a 58% humidity Boveda packet to keep it relatively dry for RYO use, though pipe tobacco generally smokes better at higher moisture content levels) but man did ever kill my throat.

I might try bringing the Ryback up to a higher moisture content then giving it another go, though even if it wasn't really harsh I still don't think I'd like it quite as much as my usual smooth and mellow shag cut dark fired blend of choice Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Dark. It was fun to try though!

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am smoking year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Jamaican Estate Reserve, neat, is my drink. Watching episodes of The Odd Couple. Haven't seen this program since maybe the 1980s. Daisy the Feral Princess is doing okay after surgery. M'lady will pick her up in a short while.
