Straus Sleepy Hollow in a Country Gentleman cob, while I go for a late night stroll. 🌖

IMG20250212232303~2.jpg

This is my first time smoking Sleepy Hollow and I've often heard folks say that it's simply rebranded Sutliff Pumpkin Spice, and having smoked quite a bit of Sutliff Pumpkin Spice I think the answer as to whether Straus Sleepy Hollow is the same blend is both "Yes" and "No".

As far as I can tell Sleepy Hollow does seem to be Pumpkin Spice, but with an extra topping added. Sleepy Hollow looks and smells about the same as Pumpkin Spice but is darker in color and when smoked has a very distinct spice hit on the tongue that I haven't noticed in Pumpkin Spice before, like Straus added a little extra pumpkin pie spice extract to it to amp up the spice factor.

I'll have to smoke them more side by side in the coming weeks to be sure, but my initial impression is that Straus Sleepy Hollow is in fact Sutliff Pumpkin Spice but with an additional topping. It's darn good in any case! puffy

Enjoyed some low calorie snacking, and have passed the first third of this bowl of Wilke No. 111 in a straight smooth medium brown 2016 Brigham Klondike 16 bulldog with a tapered black acrylic stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. It's still cold and raining hard, and everybody except for the absent Abner the Eager is inside. Daisy the Feral Princess wanted out twice, and both times she did a quick turn around, and ran back inside.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. It's time for some reading. Sleepy Suzy is by my size. Daisy the Feral Princess is snoozin' by my feet.

Nice early start today. I have just boxed up the 1120 return materials to be shipped to the accountants and discovered the whole lot weighed 7 lbs! Considering how little business we did last year I was quite amazed. Today I am smoking my favorite meerschaum 'cutty' pipe with Birmingham hallmarked silver band circa 1902 (I think!) and enjoying a bowl of Bob's C.H Flake. I think I have enough in this tin for one more bowl and then I guess it will be back to smoking some 2019 Hogwarts Twist. Enjoy your day!

Just finished smoking Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a straight smooth brown undated Gesandt Canadian Made in England with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe was originally owned by Poul Schluter, who was the Prime Minister of Denmark from 1982-1993. I'm off to bed, now.
