Interesting and beautiful pipe. It (to me) avoids being ostentatious by the quality of it's components and the design shape itself. It simply "works" !
Happy birthday Sawyer!!Celebrated our horse's 16th birthday and yet another successful (meaning all my vital organs are still intact and my mailbox has no legal threats in it) interaction with the in-laws with a nice big bowl of Savinelli 140th Anniversary in a Stefano rhodesian. Looking forward to a few dry days here to make the earth walkable in footwear other than mudboots for a change. 9/10
Bird report: Dark-eyed junco, White-crowned sparrow, Chipping sparrow, California towhee, House finch, American crow, California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, American robin, Spotted towhee, Oak titmouse, White-breasted nuthatch, Mountain chickadee, Northern flicker, Hairy woodpecker, and Western bluebird.
Speaking of birthdays, listening to some Steve Roach, my favorite ambient artist, who turns 70 tomorrow. Chicken soup for dinner, which is another great reward for having gotten all of my kvetching out of the way. Shavuatov!

I was bummed (but saved some money) by them not doing a 53 P-lip.
Nice! I didn't know anyone else even knew who Steve Roach is. I had the pleasure of seeing him live in Portland 20 some years ago. I nearly always have ambient music in the background while I'm smoking.Speaking of birthdays, listening to some Steve Roach, my favorite ambient artist, who turns 70 tomorrow. Likewise! I mean, he's been making music for nearly half a century, but ambient is not the most glamorous genre, I suppose. Saw him live in Santa Fe 2018 (got to meet him and Linda, which was a real honor), and in Pasadena 2019, which ended up being recorded and released as "The Sky Opens." Title track of Western Spaces always reminds me of visiting my maternal grandfather in Palm Springs as a kid...even makes me tear up from time to time!Nice! Congratulations man!View attachment 371296My first time having exclusive and this stuff is just fantastic. In a Savinelli tre rusticated 207. Featuring our dog, Shems.
I haven’t been active much the past few days because my wife and I welcomed our second child into the world, a son, on Feb 13th in the early hours of the morning. We now have a 5 year old daughter and a son. We are blessed beyond words.
Man, that is one very different Dunhill stummel. Did you select it for that reason? Much more character than most sandblasts.Dorchester in a Dunhill View attachment 371335
Couldn't get out for a birthday smoke yesterday - it was -17C - a bit cold even for a Great White North smoker! But today, a bit warmer, despite the 40cm of snow. Set up in the shed with my first bowl of Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake in the Brebbia with a thermos of tea (with just a glug of Havana Club 7 year in it).
View attachment 370870View attachment 370871Question for the vets: when I make an attempt a couple years ago to remove the oxidation on the stem, I rounded it off a bit so it doesn't quite fit snug to the shank. I find the tendon a bit "rubbery" because of this play. Is this normal? I'm understanding vulcanite is a form of rubber - if this is so, it would make sense to have this "rubbery" play. I'm wondering because I'm scared of breaking the tenon when I'm taking it apart to clean.
