A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2013 Capstan Blue in a post 2007 Castello straight brown Sea Rock KK US made in Cantu (Kimo) apple with a tapered black acrylic stem. Have enough for one more small bowl. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

After spending a very long day helping my first born to win prizes in regional History and Geography Bee (Only help he needed from me was to drive him there and keep him fed and hydrated) relaxing with an aged Peterson Irish Oak in a Bruce Weaver Bamboo Apple ?

I can relate to this heavily. Enjoy every second of it! There are fewer things in life more gratifying than helping a kid do well in something they're really into ... even if it's just driving them there and serving as ground support crew. :)

Enjoy that well-deserved bowl of Irish Oak and have a great evening! Here's to all the dads out there.

PS - My 15 year old son thinks I'm a total idiot for smoking a pipe and has no understanding why anyone would want to do such a thing. I'm OK with that. Hell, he may be right.

I would share a little bit more personal info here - When I was young I participated in a lot of things like this, and my dad would always be there to cheer. Normally in my family though, my wife takes my kids to these most of the time. I did it today for a change and remembered my dad a lot the whole day!

I'm at the point where I can see the time coming when my son likely won't want his old man around on his adventures anymore. I think I've still got a couple of years left, though, and I intend to exploit them for as long as I can. :)

That’s awesome!!!! Congrats to him!!!!!

Takes me back to my youngest daughter’s first spelling bee comp. She qualified for a regional “bee”, we drove her the 75 miles one fine Saturday morning, surprised and out on her first word, we had a fun lunch and we all spelled our way home! Tear to my eye - those are the best times!!!!!
