I was in George’s @gbpipes shop when he picked out the block for this pipe. He has a great selection of briar and an even better eye to make the most out of each piece of briar.
I was just checking out some of his pipes and now I want one. Lol. A close friend of mine spent 4 or 5 months in Bulgaria a few different times, beautiful country. Got chased by a pack of dogs on a couple occasions too.

Hey, chuckle all you want fellas. A good friend of mine has taken 4 FLYING ducks with his recurve. It IS possible. Maybe before I croak, I'll get one too. :)
You can do it. I have a Longbow and a recurve. I have shot several forest grouse with my bow while out Deer hunting. But,They’re fairly easy prey and are usually found in low brush or on the ground. I used to practice quite a bit with some heavy Styrofoam blocks that my friend would throw up in the air. If you practice, you can’t hit a bird on the fly. Just go watch some old Fred Bear hunting videos!

Thanks! Exactly. I have been a Fred Bear fiend since the early 80s. Love my bows.

Of course you can do it! Archers have been hunting birds for thousands of years. I just chuckle at the thought of laying in a blind for hours with decoys out, and then when ready, trying to pop up and take the shot. I'm pretty sure that I'd get caught in something, trip, land in the water. Boots all full, cold as hell. It was funnier in my mind.

Had a short snooze, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of 2021 HU Directors Cut in a straight brown probably 1950s-early 60s Dunhill Shell Briar 3S F/T lovat with a Dunhill factory repair shank and a tapered black vulcanite fishtail stem. First time smoking this Frankenstein pipe. Whoever originally owned it certainly abused it by rubbing off much of the blast, not to mention breaking off the shank all those years ago.
