Good afternoon. We were this morning taking a nice walk with my wife, along the coast area. A summer day. It was very windy, so I tried to smoke some mb: Virginia Flake, in my Peterson. It was a bit annoying, I'm not used to smoking on the street and in this wind. And now I'm back to give it another smoke in the Peterson, this time with Wessex Red Virginia Flake. Now yes, at home sheltered from the wind. I wish you guys a happy SundayView attachment 129980View attachment 129981
God I need to visit Spain.

C&D Mountain Camp, a re-proportioned blend from the constituent tobaccos of Bayou Night, which are burley, Latakia, oriental, Perique, and Virginia, in a MM/Cornell&Diehl collaborative cob with a bent tortoise shell stem. This tastes milder than Bayou Night, but good, not quite as distinctive but complex. I warmed up biscuits and bacon for breakfast before online church, and my wife is making chicken soup for Sunday dinner. Yes, her chicken soup definitely makes dinner.

It is damned cold here in Tampa. It is cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey and certainly has been too cold for me to even contemplate shaving for the last three days! I am currently smoking a bowl of Bosuns Plug in a 5 1/2 inch meerschaum 'cutty' pipe circa 1900 whilst wearing a wool cardigan more suited to NY winters. Roll on the weekend since it is supposed to warm up.

@condorlover1 Finally let up from raining here in Derbyshire, still more windy ?️ than the day I went to see the Sealed Knot:)
Not been out today due to the weather; just going to take my recycling out now the rain's stopped...
Got a lot more stuff to take to the charity shop tomorrow!
It might be a good opportunity to test my windproof lighter ?...

Starting IPSD off with the last of my sample of Mac Baren Burley London Blend in a Foyard Beechwood Rhodesian. Bird report: California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, California towhee, House finch, Oak titmouse, White-crowned sparrow, Chipping sparrow, American tree sparrow, Dark-eyed junco, Common raven, Ring-necked dove (invasive species!), California thrasher, Northern flicker, and one Spotted towhee, the return of which is quite joyous for me. Allowing sufficient drying time for all blends has totally revolutionized pipe smoking for me. puffy

What did you think about 507-C slices with age on them? I've heard age doesn't do much for this tobacco, as in it doesn't change the flavor much. This is fine with me cause I love the flavor of the slices when fresh. I was just curious what a few years of age does for this blend.
Whoever said age doesn't change the flavor is wrong or they burnt out their tongue with firey creosote. After five years, the grass and acidity tones down some with age. The citrus is a more matured with a little less sparkle, but it has a deeper flavor. You'll notice more earth and wood as well. If you like that sparkle, then don't age it. I prefer it with less acidity. Aging is for those who prefer matured Virginias

In the first seven to ten years, bright Virginias benefit from age and will change with age more than darker tobaccos.
