The rest of this week is looking like it might be a doozy at work, and 50/50 we get hit with another weekend-long snow storm. So a small treat tonight (and prepped for tomorrow morning): '17 SG Cabbie's Mixture, fold-n-stuffed in the Tsuge "Lionfish" (saving it for tomorrow morning) and also rubbed out a couple of coins for this Scottie Piersel pencil-shank prince, going to try to use the nic-hit to finish some work and get 4-5 hours of shut eye ? ?

I have half what i got aging in a jar and I'm smoking the other currently. And to be honest I've rubbed these coins out for smoking too, but i prefer to just stack and stuff them. The only downside that i can tell is that they take a bit longer to dry out that way. What about you?

I stack the coins primarily. I find it burns a bit cooler and more flavorful than rubbing out. When rubbed out the blend seems more tempermental and can get too hot if smoked too fast. I find it best when smoked slowly with the coins intact in a Meerschaum. Sometimes I top the bowl with a little 5 Brothers or Dark Bird's Eye for a nicotine punch and help get the top coin burning evenly without touching it with a flame.
A great idea! Just so happens i like those tobaccos as well. I will try this when i get off work in the morn. And you're right about them being temperamental. I've noticed that about all MacB twists that I've smoked.
I am assuming being tempermental was why people would occasionally shit on Mac Baren, now it seems like popular opinion has swayed in the other direction. Same thing has seemed to happen with the Scented Lakelands, now they seem to sellout in a blink of an eye when at one time they didn't get much love.
Maybe we may live to see the day when Mixture 79 is numero uno on the Smoking Pipes' best seller list. It would be amusing if all Mixture 79 fans coordinated placing orders on the same day to make it happen. I will do my part, a tub is in my cart ready for my next order as I am down to one pouch.
I have some 79 "mellowing" out in a jar at the moment. I actually quite liked it, don't see what all the fuss is about to be honest.
Popular opinion is a funny thing. More often than not, the person shitting on said thing will be the one praising when popular opinion shifts. If there's one thing I've learned during my 29 years on this planet Earth, it's that people have strange ways.
It is not for everyone, but I would say ignorance and people jumping on the bandwagon without giving it a chance created a good amount of the fuss.
