Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm close to finishing this bowl of year 2014 Sam Gawith Best Brown Flake in a straight smooth brown 1933-1945 Comoy’s patent Grand Slam 159 *4 apple with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. The ferals ate and ran. Tomato the Brave wasn't happy that I was eating dinner when he wanted to play, and went out.

Decided to have a light snack, and am near the quarter mark of this bowl from a freshly opened tin of year 2001 Murray’s Dunhill Navy Rolls in a very early Ascorti straight New Dear KS billiard with a smooth shank with a black acrylic stem. Thought I'd pick a special blend for Christmas.

That Ascorti sure looks like it could tell some amazing stories ... 😻

Nice evening on the deck. SWRA in this Savinelli Duca Carlo. Iced tea.

I only recently was introduced to this terrific tobacco - that big tin certainly caught my eye. I can get packets of 50 grams of this pretty reasonably from the Reserve Store - so I'll always have a few packets in my stores.

And that's a mighty fine pipe to smoke it in, too!

It's Christmas Eve.. going to smoke my father's favorite two pipes today. He passed away on this day last year at 91 going on 92. Without going into details, it was sudden, quick, and family was there. The way he had hoped it would be. A couple years before I had sent these two pipes (pictured below) to Rich at Briarville for cleaning and brought them around to my dad. He held onto them for a year but decided he didn't want to start up smoking again and gave them back. I've been keeping them aside since then. Both are no name pipes. Pipe on top is a bent meer billiard. Pipe below is a meer-lined leather wrapped briar with a twist-stinger and acrylic stem.

Decided to break out two new to me blends: a 2023 Dunbar, and 2017 McClelland No.27. First up with this morning's coffee is the Dunbar in the meer-lined briar. Later will be the No.27 in the Meer. Love you, Dad. Miss you. Thank you.

What a wonderful tribute. I hope you really enjoy these today.

A couple of firsts today. My Fires on the Levee arrived yesterday, but I didn't have time for a pipe. I'm having my first bowl of that in a new sandblasted Pete B42 System Standard. This is the pipe I ordered a little more than a month ago with the Wintertime Reserve Watson. It seemed like too big a bowl for the Watson, so I've waited for something calling for this pipe. Its smoking FOTL perfectly. This is a really tasty blend!

Finally got around to lighting up my Fires on the Levee in a Savinelli Trevi Prince. It was so good for the first half I just wanted to smoke and figure out it's many secrets. I can already tell this is something special. Christmas Eve dinner was the usual chaos of my family functions and tomorrow will be even crazier. I can't wait. Making one more batch of cookies and then between this and a belt of Laphroaig I'm gonna call it. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
