A looooong and lovely smoke of Peterson's Irish Flake in this J W Caward 'Signature' rusticated Dublin. One of my favourite pipes, and I think I shall dedicate it to this blend. Mug of Rooibos to accompany. Just listened to Carols From King's on the radio, and eaten a mince pie, hot from the oven, courtesy of Mrs. Badger. Darkness falls, the lights are lit, and peace descends. The blessings of the season to you all, from our hearth to yours.

Still breaking in this Stanwell H.C. Andersen (9mm filter) churchwarden (using its short stem.) The shape is so comfortable to my hand. Tobacco is Mac Baren Mixture Modern (Danish-style aromatic.) The pipe hasn't reached its sweet spot yet, so of course the tobacco flavor was not peak. It'll get there.

Looks like it's going to be what we in Tennessee call a "T-shirt Christmas"-- Temps in the low 70's (low 20's for you Celsius folks) from now through to the weekend. Ol' Santa may have to swap out the runners on his sleigh for 4x4 off-road tires in order to make his southerly rounds this year.

In the meantime, a brief codger respite from the Christmas chaos-- smoking Carter Hall in my trusty old 1940's Marxman Bench Made billiard pot.
She may not be the prettiest girl at the at the cotillion, but she sure as hell knows how to dance with burley blends.

It doesn't get much simpler than that. Merry Christmas Eve, y'all.

Merry Christmas, my dear pipe-smoking colleagues and fellow pipemen.
First of all, I wish you good health and family well-being — with health and a strong family, everything else will follow sooner or later.
I’m truly glad that over the past year I’ve gained new friends and kindred spirits through this wonderful hobby.
And yes… pipe smoking is harmful to your health — just kidding. 🥂

Shot the Cuffs too!
Nothing says class like a man who knows how to dress and one who also wears it well.
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays 🎄🎁

Almost half way through this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Everybody's eating except for Daisy the Feral Princess. Guess she's not hungry yet. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

It's Christmas Eve.. going to smoke my father's favorite two pipes today. He passed away on this day last year at 91 going on 92. Without going into details, it was sudden, quick, and family was there. The way he had hoped it would be. A couple years before I had sent these two pipes (pictured below) to Rich at Briarville for cleaning and brought them around to my dad. He held onto them for a year but decided he didn't want to start up smoking again and gave them back. I've been keeping them aside since then. Both are no name pipes. Pipe on top is a bent meer billiard. Pipe below is a meer-lined leather wrapped briar with a twist-stinger and acrylic stem.

Decided to break out two new to me blends: a 2023 Dunbar, and 2017 McClelland No.27. First up with this morning's coffee is the Dunbar in the meer-lined briar. Later will be the No.27 in the Meer. Love you, Dad. Miss you. Thank you.

[I wish we had a care emoji...]

May you find comfort in your memories of your father, as you honor him in this way today.
