As I stated before, we've got an epic storm system coming in on Tuesday, so today was spent prepping the ranch (as best as possible). My reward for a job well done (or, in the immortal words of J. Peterman, a job...done) was a bowl of Presbyterian in my non-aromatic lat pipe, a Savinelli Bacco 321 rusticated bent author. Amusing from an ecclesiastical standpoint to be smoking this blend on the final night of Chanukah, but I don't plan these things out. 9.5/10

Bird report: Dark-eyed junco, California towhee, California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, California quail, White-crowned sparrow, Oak titmouse, Chipping sparrow, House finch, American crow, Hairy woodpecker, American robin, White-breasted nuthatch, Spotted towhee, and Mourning dove.

Looks like I'll be living in a mud pit for the remainder of what was a mostly lousy year. Go figure! 🤷‍♂️

I really like the way this pipe smokes so I am smoking it again with probably my favorite blend if not the one I’m most familiar with. This tobacco is a good barometer for me as I know its character well and have smoked it in many different pipes.View attachment 439830
It looks like it would be a good smoker

You’re sending us a white wet Christmas…..gee, thanks!

And the Presbyterian on Hanukkah is a nice touch by the way.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, haddock and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2016 Sutliff 507-C Slices in a sandblasted medium bend 1950s Reuben era Charatan Deluxe 11 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

Now smoking year 2013 Sutliff Dunhill Elizabethan Match in a straight smooth brown 1960s-70s BBB Own Make 506 Canadian with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Cleaned a few pipes, gave Harry the Hairy some attention, and we are going to watch the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol.

This reminded me of my Grandpa Mac. He was a cook in the civilian conservation corps CCC and raised to appreciate what he had. He didn’t suffer food complaints.
He would say, if you don’t want “this”, you can have some “Poke-roll and grit”. Poke your feet under the table , roll your eyes and grit your teeth, and you might get something to eat now”😂
I sure miss that man.
Haha this is great, I might use poke-roll and grit for some fussy in-laws. Sounds like your Grandpa was a real one.

Well, this is the Winter Solstice and is supposed to be the shortest day of the year. Bundle up with mama and have a nice, long sleep....

It seems to be vogue today to smoke Castello's as there are a number on show. So, so as to be trendy, I am having some HU Edward G in my Castello 55 Searock with coconut water to drink. As @PaulRVA said, I owe my impetus to get one to @VDL_Piper and also @PaulRVA . I don't regret it though, as it is a wonderful smoking machine.

A word to the wise..... if the two of them start circling you to buy a certain pipe.... just go ahead and get out your wallet and bite the bullet.

You don’t strike me as the trendy type….trying to imagine you dressed like this isn’t working.IMG_2698.png
