Not smoking much lately. Seem to be getting more tongue bite and sore throat with it. Smoked a small bowl of Luxury Navy Flake in a clay today. It was enjoyable. View attachment 436627
Ran across a tea the other day that helps my chronic sore throat. Brand name is Yogi and the tea is called Throat Comfort. Taste is wild cherry and has slippery elm for soothing. Old time remedy but might help.

Enjoyed a tall stack of cinnamon raisin French toast with pistachios and a golden delicious apple lunch. I'm near the last quarter of this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Nightwish, neat, is my drink. Going to be a very busy day reviewing and going through a big package of gifted tobacco.

Playing around with some tobacco as I wait for the elevator mechanics to show up for an inspection. This Black Flake is really interesting. There seems to be a lot more to it than I can grasp after only a few bowls. I haven’t looked up the reviews or its components yet but Virginia seems to be the predominant ingredient but I don’t know which varieties. I think perique but it seems to have some burley and maybe Kentucky? Either way I’m liking it more and more each time I smoke it which is always a good thing. Jake Hackert potView attachment 436614
RMC Black Flake lists Virginia + Perique + Black Cavendish in its recipe, and on paper it’s classified as a “Virginia-forward” blend. Historically it was conceived as a nod to the old Dunhill Dark Flake, but Black Flake uses noticeably less Black Cavendish than the classic Dark Flake — which makes the profile a bit drier, calmer, and lighter in tone. The entire McConnell Heritage line is actually quite enigmatic. At first glance the blends may seem almost straightforward, but once you spend some time with them they start to open up differently: layered flavor, a subdued depth, and a kind of “old-school” structural character that you don’t catch right away. To be honest, I’ve been reaching for this line more and more lately. The folks at Kohlhase & Kopp really did a solid job — a respectful reinterpretation of the old recipes without trying to turn them into an “aromatic pop-version” of the classics.

Just finished brushing and shaking off the juvenile Magnolias and we’re now sitting on 6 inches of powder but I think it finally stopped for today.
Another Americano and a Double Shot at that ☕☕️ !

A beautiful pipe. And by the way, this series by Peterson quite successfully conveys the writer's portrait.
