Well, I did load up the old codger Meer with some Hal O' The Wynd and took it out with me so that I could enjoy it with a pint in the yard of the Blue Boar after doing the last of the Christmas shopping, but there was no time to enjoy the long, untrammeled smoke it deserves, and no time since... :-( but today's bright spot (apart from finishing the Christmas shopping) was the arrival of the old banded-coloured Meer cutty with a new mouthpiece fitted by good old Mike Billington of Blakemar Briars... the only suitable stem he had was a half inch too short but it doesn't materially affect the balance and above all, it's properly smokable once more. I intend to ceremoniously use it with Peterson's Irish Flake on Christmas morning. Meanwhile, does anyone have any tips on what to do with the old broken amber mouthpiece?
Keep them. Ground up and mixed with epoxy they are great for repairing amber stems!

Earlier this evening I enjoyed Samuel Gawith Balkan Flake in a Dr. Grabow Lark. Took some time away from the pipe for a couple weeks or so while getting some dental work done, but this blend was a nice proper smoke to come back to. Hope everyone is enjoying some great holiday smokes!
