Good morning everyone. My head is on fire from nerve pain due to a pinched nerve in my neck, this is day 7 of intense pain and burning. I received an occipital ablation 2 weeks ago and they said the pain may worsen for a period of 2 weeks following the procedure. I’m starting to get irritated. I’m going to push through another day. I’m smoking 3 Sails and drinking CC medium roast. I hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Dec to all (!!!).
Sun (Dec 1), no smoking -- did errands, cleaning, cooking, had a good workout.
Today (Dec 2) going to try something. Got a jar with a pouch of Captain Black (white), jarred '07. Not sure if this actually ages (???) but the section of label I cut off & added is certainly saturated. So ... I'm going to pick a pipe, probably one of my treasured Canadians, and purposely smoke couple bowls of the Black straight, no parfait, no mixing into a Home Blend. Why? I want to see if I can purposely create a GHOST. Then, since several here have commented they actually enjoy GHOSTS, I will return the Canadian to "yeoman's duty". Since I don't do "dedicating" ... (sorry, Jimlnks) ... will I enjoy the Captain Black GHOST with whatever I then smoke? Thinking, at this point, that whatever "sweetness" comes through might be nice. Plus, what longevity will the GHOST have?

NOTE: Skippy Coyote's extensive, very interesting commentary on Captain Black (white) is awesome! I'll be going back & forth to his writing throughout my GHOSTING experiment.
I've been "dedicating" pipes for a couple of months now. If I have a particularly good smoke, I take note. If it happens twice in the same pipe, I stand up. Three times, it's dedicated. Period. (This is ME, not DOGMA) - I find meerschaum ghosts the most, then cherrywood, then pearwood, then briar and ash.. Lat will ghost just about any pipe, so I smoke Englishes or Navies in specific pipes. Longstems, which I have quite a few of, have ash stems and they WILL absorb flavours in their unfinished interiors. So any longstem I have, gets dedicated, at least to a genre of tobaccos. I love my longstems but they are also quite delicate. They are great smoking tools though.

My dedicating specific pipes to specific tobaccos (or genres) has really increased my pleasure in smoking a pipe. I confess to not having refined tastes - I like bold, in smokes, in food, and drink, and just about anything else. Can't really get into the subtle nature of things 'cause I ain't gifted that way. Guess that's why my go-to composers are Beethoven, Brahms and Bartok, (the real Three B's lol) with a side dish of Wagner and Mozart. :ROFLMAO:

Starting off my smoking day with a bowl of pre-2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. M'lady took care of all the cats before I woke up, but they'll be ready for more later. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

I think that's a good system. Some particular pipes, I find, do seem to suit certain blends, or types, better than others. Whatever the reasons, subjective or objective, it makes sense to me. Thank you.

Catchup post. Yesterday was extremely busy with the Club meeting - and I forwent (is that a real word?) a pipe in the morning and chewed tobacco instead, Easier to type reports with. However, I had two pipes in the afternoon, and maybe two of the best smokes I've ever had. Started off about 2:30 pm with Mad Fiddler in the Ropp J16. I usually smoke it in the morning. Then, a couple of hours later, before leaving, I stoked my ashwood McQueen Russet with Presbyterian Mixture. This pipe is a striking piece of wood, and smokes incredibly well. Maybe the most beautiful pipe I own. And it excelled itself. I remember thinking while I was smoking this most excellent tobacco, that as good as my earlier smoke was, this one might be even better. Sometimes, life is good. :)
