Now smoking year 2014 Dan Tobacco Hamborger Veermaster in a smooth straight brown 1950 Dunhill 48 bulldog group 4 root briar with a black vulcanite fish tail saddle stem. Just finished cleaning a few pipes. Daisy the Feral Princess is eating. Tomato the Brave is snoozin' on my feet. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Abner the Eager is snoozin' behind m'lady's chair. Harry the Hairy is snoozin' in a corner.

I’m waiting on a tin of Golden Days of Yore to smoke over the holidays so last night I cooked down some rum with cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and a chunk of peppermint candy cane. I added that to some old, dried out left over tobacco and let it soak overnight. This morning I popped it in the oven on warm while I ran some errands and smoked some in the afternoon once it warmed up to about 30°. It had a nice, sweet taste and smelled lightly of holiday spices. I was hoping for something more “in your face” and am eager to see how the pros at Cornell & Diehl compare.

Been a hectic, busy week, so I was all too glad to enjoy a half-day today and wrap up my chores with a bowl of Mac Baren Burley London Blend in a Savinelli Porto Cervo 122 rusticated pot, paired with a scotch highball. My back is still a bit stiff from moving a dozen bales of alfalfa hay into the storage room, but this combo helped loosen the ol' lumbar in a noticeable way. 9.5/10

Bird report: White-crowned sparrow, Dark-eyed junco, California towhee, Steller's jay, California scrub-jay, California quail, American crow, White-breasted nuthatch, Oak titmouse, House finch, Spotted towhee, and Mountain chickadee.

Wishing everyone a pleasant, warm, and relaxing weekend!

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and have passed the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2014 HU Directors Cut in a very early Ascorti straight New Dear KS billiard with a carved shank and a black acrylic tapered stem. Watching Nova on PBS with Sleepy Suzy by my side.

Pouring a fine malt: Rock Oyster 18yr, whilst finishing up a bowl of Hiking in an H. Ege deco hammer. Need to make a trip to total wine for Champagne for my mom's 80th birthday this weekend. Got her a mini meer and antique tamper, too. ;) (She always samples my pipes and cigars when i light up, so i figured i'd get her something to dabble with...80 yrs and perfect health, she's earned it.)
