Just passing the first third of this bowl from a freshly opened tin of year 2015 John Aylesbury Sir John’s Flake Virginia in a 1937 straight smooth dark brown Kaywoodie 8776 B billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. First time smoking this pipe, too.

That was fun! these are of course two quite different tobaccos.. Both lit easily and burned great with no further match. MB cooler smoke, very soft. McConnell stronger flavors, a bit astringent and at one point had me running my tongue over my teeth thinking I had some candy in them. Touch more nic in McConnell, and, like my English wife who grew up in Scotland, beautiful, complex, and will get a bit spicy if pushed. ;)

Did some snacking, and am just passing the quarter mark on this bowl of D&R Penhooker in a smooth brown late 1890s, early 1900s unbranded military mount bulldog with a silver windcap and spigot with a black vulcanite, flared stem and orific bit.

That’s a beauty. I didn’t want to start a new thread with this question so I thought I’d try it here: I’m thinking of buying an antique pipe with an orific bit. Is there any bad point about such a bit? I mean to the smoking experience? I’m supposing not since I seem to recall that you have more than one pipe as such? Thanks!

It’s only Tuesday and feels like Thursday, lol. Jason says the Xmas J.Everett is on the way so sorting out some gifts with the 2020 J.Everett and some 2012 McClelland Holiday Spirit I received from Santa @captainsousie last year. Good stuff! Haha, that pic was from the weekend, this stuff is way darker than that and pairs perfectly with hot chocolate!A42A5B5C-4993-42E0-8DD3-0785D850277F.jpeg

Enjoying a mix of some home blend i got from a B&M store the other day with a touch of Sutliff 1-M vanilla. The home blend i cant recall the name and its not wrote on the bag. Its a very nice smoke similar to a english blend but not latakia heavy. Makes for a great all day smoke. Next visit im gonna buy more, very pleased with it and the Sutliff adds just a little more softness to the smoke.
Pipe is my 1961 Dunhill Shellbriar.
