Found a pipe in a small antique shop, it was extremely dirty, I spent 40 usd and more than 3 hours cleaning (forget to take the photo before cleaning). After scraping off a layer of aromatic cake and cleaning it with alcohol, the current situation is satisfactory, and I will smoke a bowl later.
The nomenclature stamped on the left shank flank is, kaywoodie, super grain, imported briar,The right side of the shank stamped a number, 08B.
Can someone tell me if $40 is a good price without considering my labor costs?

It's a nice looking pipe from my phone screen, but judging by your lighter and the tin of tobacco that the pipe is resting on...I think you know the answer...I could be wrong.

It's a nice looking pipe from my phone screen, but judging by your lighter and the tin of tobacco that the pipe is resting on...I think you know the answer...I could be wrong.

I don't understand the connection between them.
If this pipe is worth 60 or 80 dollars, I will be very happy. If it's only worth $10 or $20, that means I need to do some research before going to the antique store.
Perhaps kaywoodie pipes are quite common in the United States, and their value is very clear, but this is the first kaywoodie pipe I saw, so I really need some expert advice.

I don't claim to be an expert. I was just comparing the other items in the pic to a $40 briar pipe (a nice looking one). To me, I think you got a good deal compared to paying $40 for a cob, just my opinion.

Just finished a bowl of Newminster No. 400 navy flake in my “new” kaywoodie 08b.
There is no other problem except that a little condensate seeps from the thread of the stem, but it is not very serious.
