@edger ? well observed ? I bought this lighter at a market stall over twenty five years ago for a fiver. Prior to taking up pipe smoking it’s lit many a hexi block and camp fire. Great to see you back and posting again ?

McCranie’s Red Ribbon,
Tinned in 2008 Purchased at McCranies B&M. I don’t have a lot
of experience with aged Virginias
but there seems to be a delicious change about halfway through the bowl.

They get this deep sweetness, sometimes syrupy. I somewhat expected this from reading y’all,
however I’m kind of blown away by how good this particular tobacco is.

One of the Scottish Highlanders at the Bonnie Prince Charlie event near Derby was smoking Clan in his clay pipe; I thought the tartan packet went with his costume.
This was before tobacco packets were plastered with health warnings

Match Revelation for a Christmas afternoon smoke, with duck about to go into the oven. My pipe is a Mogen Johansen, Johs, tomahawk freehand with plateau on the brim and shank, a Christmas gift from my wife in 2010. We have hours of gifts to open, because we are slow and deliberate and have to discuss and appreciate everything. It's a family tradition on both sides.

Hope the duck was delectable. Duck is my favorite poultry. Unfortunately I’m the only one in the family that likes it so I only get it when I go out. My next order will contain some Granger. I’ve always wanted to try it and now with a seven ounce can available, it won’t be as much of a risk.
