In all the years I have been on forums, I've never seen a greater misunderstanding of what this thread is all about. I'll explain it this way:
- We post what we are smoking. This is the "What Are You Smoking?" thread.
- Look around and you will see there's threads for "rides, guns, and toys" on this forum. Somewhere, someone might even discuss how cool they are today.
- You won't get the "boot" for being oblivious to something easy to understand. But, you may find it's worth the effort to understand what we do here instead of being judgemental of good people for no reason. Or not.
- As previously noted, there is a section for tobacco reviews. Look around and join in with yours.
- This thread is more of an internet cafe of people who like to share what gets smoked during the day. Nobody's looking for a pat on the back. Nobody's competing to see who was the coolest pipe or rarest tobacco. Sharing and camaraderie are the only concepts that matter here.
- There's no pomposity here, except for the fact that you apparently lack the ability to understand that you could be a part of a fun group of people. Or that you are in the wrong thread and didn't realize it. Looking down at others and being proud of it really says more about you than it does about us. Nobody's hurting anybody here. People are getting along fine and enjoying each others company. Why would you feel the need to rain on the parade of good people? If you don't like this thread, don't post here. There's sure to be something at this site worth your time or you wouldn't have come here in the first place.

In the spirit of such, I smoked current production Balkan Sobranie in this "plus-sized" Grechukhin last night. I've seen this blend get mixed reviews, but I like the taste of it.

What's wrong with showing off? It's titled, "What are you smoking". This thread has kinda become the Instagram of pipe smoking, which I don't mind because it keeps me off of actual Instagram. I'd rather see what a bunch of old coots and codgers think is "cool" and "brag worthy" than a bunch of selfie models and whatever tf they think is cool. About as many people here show off their cobs with OTCs as do Dunhills with Esotericas... or 200 yr old meers dug from an outhouse with 100 yr old plugs?. I like seeing all of them. But it's cool if it's not your thing. There's plenty enough content on this site to never have to bother with this particular thread. But this is also the thread that has the most real-time interaction so if you're like me and looking for the closest thing to hanging out at a pipe shop without having to leave your den, this is the place.
