Rainy morning here. Ever wonder how long a pouch of Captain Black will stay moist? In Florida, forever. This one is going on 10 years! Every once in a while I pull it out and give it go. The pipe is a Carey Magic Inch. It is stamped “Made In London England”. How magic is it? I don’t think it’s fool Penn & Teller magic. Not a bad smoker though.

Good day all! Spent the last three days with a steady diet of 1792 Flake, Reiner Sweet Mystery and Drucquer Red Lion, in Upshalls and a Charatan. Started today with Reiner Professional in the Charatan birdseye Poker (318) and now am moving to Pease Samarra in a Tilshead EXL smooth Liverpool (award pipe I mistook for a Canadian).

After I pulled my Wellie out to add a pic to the discussion about Wellington pipes, I loaded it up with some Sutliff English Oriental #400341 (terrible name!) and had a lovely bowl on the front porch. Lovely day in northern Indiana, the humidity isn't too bad (yet).

I'm working on smoking through this EO400341 to reduce my open jar count, so this will be my smoke for the rest of the week or so. It's a great tasting blend, I'm really sad it's gone due to the Sutliffocalypse (but glad that I have a good portion mylared up in the cellar).

A quarter of a bowl left of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Fed all the cats. It stopped raining, but the sky is dark, so I'm deciding on whether or not to try walking. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Tomato the Brave is by my side. After my last post before bed time, he did the same thing. Tomato's been needy of me the last couple of days.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and have a third of a bowl left of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Peruvian Macchu Picchu, neat, is my drink. Watching the Nats-Royals game. The rain came back so I couldn't go walking. Daisy the Feral Princess is snoozin' by my feet. Harry the Hairy is snoozin' on the couch. Tomato the Brave was by my side for while, but he moved to the floor when I had lunch, and is currently back on my chair.

Continuing to try out blending components with a bowl of Sutliff TS-4 White Cube Burley in my Viprati Freehand
Fun adventure. Been making home blends and mixes for nearly 20 yrs and still enjoy the endless possibilities. The blends that turn out great after a bowl or two get mixed into larger batches, named and jarred. I have about 10 or so of these on the smoking shelves at any given time. Some with quite a bit of age (due to original batch size) and smoke them fairly often. Enjoy...just another fun aspect of the game.

After breakfast satiety bowl of Warped: The Red Hunt in a Muxiang with the rest of the espresso 'n' heavy cream.

A bit of a change of pace this morning. My wife left out for a trip back to Louisville, KY. to visit friends and family so I am "baching" it for a for a couple of days. After rounding up the horses for fly spray and inspection, I grabbed a few essentials, jumped in the Jeep and headed to Columbia, TN. to Briarworks Pipe store. Not many folks there which is a big contrast to the other times I have visited when they have the Muletown Pipe show, each March. These shows are just crammed full of visitors....

I brought my recently purchased Roush Poker and showed it to them. They knew Larry Roush and had nothing but the greatest of respect and admiration for him and his work. So @Briarcutter , you have many fans down in middle Tennessee.

I looked at their pipes, but the pickin's were slim as the inventory was down, but I did buy a couple of jars of their blends. I loaded my pipe with some "Back Down South" which is a very nice VaPer and enjoyed a Yuengling lager while taking in the atmosphere. I continued my smoke as I drove back home. All in all a nice time and a break in the routine.

I'd be curious to know what your favorite personal blends are and what the recipes are, if you don't mind sharing? You can PM me if you'd prefer.
