Yep, many local Alaskans and guides are going to 10mm auto loaders vs the old standby 44 magnum or 454 Casull.
Many people think 16 rounds of 200 grain bullets with 700fpe is superior to 6 rounds of 44 mag with 1100fpe.
From my own experience, I can fire a 10mm auto much faster and accurate than any revolver. I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't...except maybe Jerry Miculek.

When I worked in Alaska, we did 19 investigations and necropsies on brown bears that were killed by civilians. Eight of them were killed with auto loaders, five with big bore revolvers, the rest with long guns.
One was 45acp, one 9mm and six by 10mm.
The 10mm has plenty of power, higher capacity, less recoil, and usually quicker sight acquiring.
The only downside is autos are slightly more prone to malfunctions than revolvers.
Ive never had to kill a bear, but ive come very close several times. I never feel under gunned with 10mm. I have this glock, a Dan Wesson Kodiak, a Dan Wesson Bruin, and a S&W M&P.....all in 10mm.
Most brown bear attacks happen from less than 10 yards, and they are on you in less than 2 seconds. Not a lot of time to unshoulder a rifle, aim and fire. Handguns can be life or death in brown bear territory.
