Windsail Silver in a Vauen Olaf bent egg this afternoon. Slow sipping reduces or eliminates most of the topping bite and I am packing as tight as I can while still leaving some airflow. I really like the taste of this tobacco, hay, sweet citrus, bread but is there a method to smoking this blend ? Even with slow sipping it burns very fast more so than cigarette tobacco and it also seems to make the bowl very hot even with a simmering ember. Am I doing something wrong or incorrectly ? Does anyone smoke this regularly ? Curious as I like it the blend. Thanks in advance.
That's the way it burns. Same for Penhooker and Three Sails. Mark Ryan didn't add water to his blends because he didn't want his customers to pay for water weight. I smoke a lot of his blends and the burn rate is quick, but enjoyable. Btw, there's no topping on Windsail. It has a light minimally sweet casing, but nothing else.

I smoke Three Sails for the aformentioned reasons when I go walking. I very seldom have to stop and relight. The citrus is attractive to me, too.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, haddock and snow peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I've passed the first third of this bowl of KBV Jupiter Slices 7.1 in a post-1938 Pre-Republic Peterson Dublin straight smooth X155 bulldog with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Nigel Bruce smoked this model in two Sherlock Holmes movies. Please consider asking Shane Ireland at Smoking Pipes and Peterson to bring the pipe back into production. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is trying to set a record for hairball coughing.
