Relaxing after eating eight freshly made quesadillas, cantaloupe, a peach, and a small bowl of rocky road cream for dinner and dessert. I'm smoking year 2020 D&R Penhooker Silver in a straight smooth brown undated pre-Republic Peterson Shamrock 263 Canadian with a nickel band and a tapered black p-lip stem. It's too humid for coffee tonight, so ice water and bergs is my drink. One of the people we contacted sent us three photos of the black cat that he's seen in his yard before it got dark this evening. It's not Abner the Eager. That one is a little heavier and taller. M'lady sent him a few photos of Abner so the guy will get a better look at the li'l fella. Never got to clean pipes today, so I'll do that after I post this smoke.

Uhle’s Bishop’s Move in my Stanwell Hans Christian Anderson. First pipe from this fresh purchase, but actually the second or third bowl I’ve smoked (previous was a sample a few years back).

It’s really excellent and somehow a bit different from other English blends I’ve had. Anyone know if the Turkish leaf or Latakia are rare or unique to Uhle’s shop in Milwaukee?

Trying Robert McConnell Marylebone in different pipes. It smoked decently in the Nording Compass, but it really opens up better in standard-sized bowls, especially those with a conical shape — offering more depth and nuance. That said, the compact Compass still seems to suit straight Virginias better for a cleaner and clearer smoke.IMG_5167.jpeg

It’s a nice change and my kind of weather. The wife is already asking for a fire on the patio tomorrow night😂
Yeah yeah yeah, my wife’s asking why the HVAC guy can’t get here til Sunday to see why we can’t cool below 84 inside…always during a July or August heatwave.

Oh well, having some Sutliff 515-RC1 with the last of my lunchbox tin of Dark Moor mixed in.

Got a box from Smokingpipes today and along with some bulks for storage I got some C&D Virginia Gentleman. Smoking that in my Ropp Squashed Tomato. Really liking it so far, the interplay between the Virginia and Burley remind me of Briar Fox but the addition of the Turkish gives it an interesting extra dimension. Good stuff. Happy Friday and first of tha month to all of y'all!

Been negligent in my PipesMagazine forum posting duties. Wanted to share this though. I decided to go into the treasure trove of pipes that I’ve purchased with the idea of restoring them all when I retire. Picked this beauty out tonight. Never smoked, date and artist unknown. All it says is Made In Denmark with a 4 stamped on it. Gorgeous briar and fits great in the hand. Figured I’d send it off on its first of many voyages with one of my all time faves. C&D Steamworks. Enjoyed a big, tasty golden delicious apple, and have passed the last third of this bowl of year 2014 Esoterica Tilbury in a straight smooth Danish gold straight grain undated W.O. Larsen Hand Made in Denmark dublin with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Daisy the Feral Princess was on my lap for a while before she got hungry. Now, she's lying by my feet. Harry the Hairy is snoozin' on the couch. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is on m'lady's lap.

Good find, it's a beauty! It looks like a Nording.
