I’m proud to introduce the newest (and needless) member to my massive pipe roster. I didn’t need to buy this pipe, but then again, yes I did. As a Canadian, it was a nagging dereliction of national pride that I didn’t own a Canadian shaped pipe, made by a Canadian pipe maker! Sure, I have other Canadians. A Peterson and others. But what do the Irish really know about the Canadian shape? So, on my way back from my Daddy/Daughter trip to eastern Canada, I stopped into Blatter & Blatter in Montreal (during rush hour) and bought their best Canadian. Will inaugurate it with some C&D Steamworks and a wee bit of bourbon.

A recent thread “Escudo vs Dunhill De Luxe Navy Rolls” had me wondering.
SG Cabbie’s Mixture was also mentioned

So today the theme is Escudo vs Peterson DeLuxe Navy Rolls vs Sam Gawith Cabbie’s Mixture

1st up is Escudo Navy de Luxe
This tin has been opened more than 2 years and down to the last few coins

Another afternoon monsoon storm, another postponed bowl, this time, the last of an old jar of Mac Baren Vanilla Cream in the Al Pascia meer again. Yesterday's extensive drying experiment with Lane BCA went well enough to leave me wanting more sweet desserty goodness, and the dusty old remnants of this jar came through with flying colors. Certainly went well with the smell of freshly damp foliage lingering around me. 8.5/10

Bird report: California scrub-jay, House finch, California towhee, Steller's jay, Oak titmouse, American crow, Northern flicker, Hairy woodpecker, Mourning dove, White-breasted nuthatch, and Western bluebird.

Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend!

You could almost think of it as a French Canadian, right? 😉

Last one for me tonight. Need to start switching the time zones and going to bed earlier. Going back to Florida on the 7th to finish clearing, get septic system installed, meet the power pole engineer and contractor doing all the hook ups in October once the house drops.

Relaxing with a bowl of new-make 1792 in the H Ege deco hammer.

Last of the Ennerdale Flake I opened just not so long ago, in the Moonshine Long Devil Anse. Going through tins faster these days for sure!

Special order parts arrived a couple days ago and '74 MGB is now running again, yay! Tuned, washed, and all spiffed up just in time for local car show tomorrow. Hopefully I successfully exorcised the spooky electrical problem that struck about this time last year and it should be better than ever. Crossing my fingers and not trusting it 'till I get at least 10 solid trips without issue. ;)

Enjoyed a little low calorie snacking, and have passed the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2001 VaPer Three Nuns in a 2001 smooth full bend St. Patrick's Day Peterson 03 apple with a silver band and a tapered black vulcanite fish tail stem. This will finish the tin. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Time to feed the ferals.
