This afternoon 2/3rds of a bowl of dried, rubbed out, Sutliff Sweet Virginia in the Pete Pub. Tonight some Sutliff 507-C in the Vauen Olaf bent egg. The sweet virginia does not burn as hot or fast when dried out. The pipe also does not get as hot. Strangely, the bottom 1/4 of the bowl has the most flavor.

I had a nice paddle around the local lake this afternoon. There was a good assortment of birds to watch which was good because the trout were completely uncooperative. I enjoyed a local brew alongside my cherry aromatic in a ‘60s or ’70s Yorkshire billiard. It’s a massive pipe my dad used to call his “big MacArthur.” Even after an hour or so, I ended up dumping half a bowl of unsmoked tobacco when I had to head home.
