As promised @JimInks, here is the Peterson System Premier 309 Made in the Republic of Ireland I sent to my friend Steve at RebornPipes for restoration. It was stained black. The vulcanite P-lip stem has one of those chimneys in it.

I just lit up some Briar Fox in it for its first smoke with me and it is super smooth and cool. You were correct, Jim, it is a great smoker.

I have never liked the P-lip more than on this pipe. I am happy I did not completely dismiss them.
Congrats to you for getting such a fine looking pipe. I knew it would smoke well for you, and I am pleased that you are enjoying it. :) When you relax in your chair, the p-lip helps make your chin a good resting spot.

Thank you, Jim. When it first showed up in its neglected state I showed it to my partner and her immediate reaction was, “I think that is the ugliest pipe you have.“ I showed her the restored pipe and she said, “That looks better.” 🤣

I have a feeling I’ll be smoking this pipe a lot. The mouthpiece is perfect and it is very comfortable too clench despite its size. These old system pipes are really something.

Did a second set of walking reps, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Harry the Hairy and Abner the Eager were waiting for me to finish so they could have more food, which I gave them. Daisy the Feral Princess just sat on the deck looking at me like I shouldn't feed anybody but her. Don't know where Tomato the Brave is, but when rain is imminent or pouring, he hides in some unknown location.

I agree. That's a big reason that I like the 4ABs, too. Btw, you as well as your lady may be interested in seeing the 309 that I have:

Now smoking year 2013 Capstan Blue Flake in a 2015 Ryan Alden quarter bend burgundy sandblasted Queen of Hearts freehand with a black acrylic saddle stem. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is snoozin' under the covers in the bed room.
