My current batch is made up from a bed of Burley and equal amounts of Virginia and Latakia Virginia.
I added a dark Kentucky leaf, a really sticky, waxy one. Also a little bit of the brighter.
Then some Oriental/Turkish.
I stacked it all up and rolled it into a tight "cigar", then cut it into more or less equal slices.
I rubbed and fluffed those up between my hands, piled it up and compressed it a little,
then roughly ran my blade through it.
All this went into a mason jar and was left for about 48 hours.
The different leaves have different moisture levels and this allows moisture to escape the fresh cut tobacco and settle evenly throughout the batch. Afterwards I let the mix sit in the open air and play around with it every now and then. Mixing it, compressing it, smelling it. Mostly for fun but also to test when it's ready.
And when I'm happy with the feel of it, when it's dry enough to fluff back up by itself after a good compression, but not so dry that it starts crumbling, then it is ready to go back into the jar.
Ready to be enjoyed at any time.
It's a very nice and sweet, cloudy smoke that packs a nice medium nicotine punch when smoked calmly.
Draw up a storm and it'll make the sweat rain down from your head.
