I’m stepping out on the porch with Ennerdale in a MM apple diplomat and a glass of sweet tea. It’s time to relax after cleaning up storm debris. There is a large dead limb about 40‘ up one of my maple trees that has been hanging by a thread for a couple years now. I picked up 20-25 large, healthy limbs that were just twisted off by the wind but that stubborn thing is still hanging there.

Always a challenge in deciding what to smoke…

Sun Bear thread was the first I saw this morning, so Sun Bear it is. And the weather is pretty nice with 77 degrees and low humidity; the pall of forest fire smoke has changed direction and the skies are blue.

Smoking 2019 Sun Bear in a 2000 Peterson Deluxe 2s.

BBB OWN MAKE stamped on the shank / BBB and A.F & Co. (Adolph Frankau & Co.) stamped on the mount with marks for Birmingham 1902

"In the early days BBB produced two qualities. One was stamped BBB Own Make - which later became BBB Best Make - and the other was simply stamped BBB.
There are reasons to believe that Own Make pipes were produced in London and that pipes only stamped BBB were imported from Saint-Claude, France.
In the early years of the 20th century a BBB Own Make cost up to £2.10/- whereas pipes simply stamped BBB cost 5/- to 6/-
".
