Sun Bear Black Locust in a Dr. Grabow Duke. For me, the Sun Bear didnt live up to the hype. I hate toppings. I dont know if it's the tequila burning my nose on the retrohale. I enjoy it, but I have to fight to keep it out of my sinuses. The positives are the tin note is beautiful and so is the cut. Admittedly, I am a novice pipe smoker and I may not be smoking it right. I will not be buying another tin, especially for $21.

It's definitely the topping, which is unfortunate because it alternates between the nose burn, then as the topping burns off it's a fantastic tobacco, then it burns down to fresh, topped leaf and burns again. The elderflower and silver tequila ruin this one for me. Hopefully it will ameliorate with aging.

Now smoking D&R Raccoon’s Accent in an undated straight smooth brown The Lumberman Special (Comoy’s) with a tapered black vulcanite saddle stem. More Community Coffee, neat, for my drink. Working and listening to Suspense on the XM.

A third of the way through this bowl of D&R VIP in a 2004 smooth long shank Trever Talbot Ligne Bretagne Faite en Bretagne 4/3 lumberman with a black vulcanite tapered stem. There's a comfort in dedicating pipes to blend, and this smoke is a perfect example of that. Btw, for Lucille Ball fans, check out channel 104 on Sirius/XM for her 1960s radio talk show, Let's Talk to Lucy. The episodes run about ten minutes, and the conversations are serious.

Been a week since my last bowl, enjoying my first smoke of PS Luxury twist flake.
Thoroughly enjoying the coconut, caramel topping and as Cosmic mentioned in another thread it does settle down 1/3 way in, more into the Virginia with the topping more in the background.

Tasty, tasty stuff.puffy

Except for one minor hiccup..
A burnt off match head giving me an acrid harsh taste, had to dig around to see what the hell happened and figured it out..:sher:

Hope I never do that again.

While chatting with my Saturday ZOOM buds, I smoked some 2015 Samovar in a Savinelli billiard with a saddle stem and a translucent green acrylic ferrule, made for Harry Yablon's Gift and Tobacco Emporium, a long-gone Skokie, Illinois shop, that was a "hang-out" for the North Side members of the Chicago Pipe Club. Harry is now one of the managers at Iwan Ries.
My beverage was a tumbler full of bergs, Peach/Mango Green Tea and Honey Jack.
